Getting to Hokkaido by Air

2hrs from Tokyo

The closest major airport to Niseko is New Chitose Airport. Flights run daily from almost every major airport in Japan. New Chitose Airport also has an international terminal, so visitors can fly directly making international travel easy.

Getting to Niseko

Multiple services run each day from New Chitose Airport and Sapporo. Services terminate at Kutchan station (transfer via bus or taxi to your destination). Some services also go to Niseko station (limited transfer services).

The most popular way to get to Niseko is to fly to New Chitose Airport and then get a bus/coach to Niseko. Buses run regularly throughout winter, as well as fairly frequently during summer. In winter it is recommended to book bus transport in advance.

Private Transport

Using a pre-booked taxi service to get from New Chitose Airport to Niseko is a great way to have full flexibility over your transport arrangements. These services can be arranged with many Niseko based tour operators. Private airport transfers can also be booked with Explore Niseko.

Getting around Niseko

Once you’ve arrived in Niseko, you may need local transport. If you take a bus, you will likely arrive at the Hirafu welcome center. Most accommodation providers can pick you up, so make sure to check with your provider. There are many local transport services which can help you to get around Niseko, so you can explore everything there is on offer.

Local Buses

Local buses operate throughout the Niseko area connecting between each town. The two main public bus companies are Niseko Bus and Donan Bus. During winter there is also a Night Go Bus.

Niseko United

Connecting all four resorts throughout winter, the shuttle is free for “All Mountain Pass” holders, with a fee for non-pass holders. Points pass holders can redeem points from their pass to settle the fare.

Hanazono Shuttle

Connecting Hanazono and Hirafu all winter, shuttles run from 8:00 am till the evening, through upper and lower parts of Hirafu Village. Check the official Hanazono Shuttle page for more information.

Hirafu Village Shuttle Bus

There are three shuttle routes looping, around Hirafu Village with each loop taking approximately 20-30 minutes per circuit. Seats are limited. Buses can be boarded at stops throughout the village.

Launched last season in the Niseko area, “GO (Niseko Model)” offers a convenient way to call a taxi using a smartphone app. It ensures smooth transportation from ski resorts, accommodations, and restaurants.

The service provides real-time tracking and fare estimates for a transparent and comfortable taxi experience. It is also reliable during snowy conditions and busy periods.
