The fun of walking

Take a break for snacks and a drink

A short break and a snack are great for recharging tired legs.

While out enjoying the woods, chatting, taking photos, and appreciating the scenery, don’t forget to eat! Sweet and salty snacks are ideal, but anything you enjoy and want to carry can be perfect for a walk in the woods.

Or you could go with a classic Japanese favorite and bring a hot thermos of tea and a few hand-made sweets. There’s simply nothing better than finding a beautiful spot in the woods, chatting with friends, and enjoy hot tea and sweets. In fact, just planning your food for a day out can be fun, too! Be it dried fruits, crackers, nuts, chocolate, cookies, granola, or anything else, everything tastes better when you’re in a beautiful place with friends.

Comfortable equipment…

There are many types of light and compact jackets and rainwear.

A mosquito coil is very convenient, but please be considerate of those around you!

Jacket, rainwear

Did you know that for every 100 meters you climb, the temperature drops 0.6℃?
That means that if you climb Mt. Niseko-Annupuri, the temperature at the top is 6℃ colder than at the bottom! Wind and rain will make you cold, too, so a good rain jacket is crucial to helping you stay warm, blocking the wind, and protecting your skin from bugs and poison ivy.

Hats

Don’t turn your nose at the hat – they have many functions! Not only will a hat protect your face from the sun, but from bugs, too. If you fall, it will even help absorb the shock. Mesh sections will help keep your head cool and refreshed, whereas a gore-text hat or one of a similar material will protect you from rain.

Bug repellant

Bugs are always around in nature, so don’t let them ruin a good day! There are lots of bugs that will either latch on or try to sting you, so keep good bug spray to limit that chance. Although mosquito repellant incense works very well, some people don’t like the smell and the smoke. If you are going to use it, please be aware of those around you.
