Momiji Gallery Opens to Strong Support

High on Momiji-zaka sits the newly opened Momiji Gallery, an artful fusion of old and new, Japanese and western.

The gallery reflects years of effort from its principals, Margo Bartley and  Glen Claydon; and in truth it is a work-in-progress that Glen says will evolve over time in response to the needs of the community.

But what a great beginning! There’s all manner of intriguing arty-facts, starting with Glen’s wonderful photos. And there’s lots more in Momiji Gallery that you’re just as likely to be smitten with: Margo headlines an eclectic group of artists working in both paint and print which certainly deserves exposure, and then there’s the antique collection as well that even includes a handful of Meiji-era Manga!momiji-gallery-02

All in all, this is a wonderful new addition to Niseko, giving you the opportunity to take home a wonderful memento of your Niseko holiday.

The Momiji Gallery is currently open from 1:00pm to 5:00pm daily, but plans to extend its hours as the season peaks. The gallery can be found towards the top of Momiji-zaka – D3 on the Resort Map.

Rhythm beats all…

The new Rhythm Snow Sports shop is now open and wowing customers with their huge new outlet on Hirafu-zaka. It’s big, new, well set out, and most importantly they stock a great range of stuff from all your major ski & board brands… AND they sell coffee!

R & B compThis is a great addition to town – cool and functional. I really dug the album-jacket-feature-wall, but the tuning shop is what’s going to make a difference to my performance this season: boots that fit properly and a board (or skis!) that runs fast. The rest is details!

Of course success is in the details and in this case they’ve done very well. The whole place is well thought out – looks good, and works better. Check them out when you need rentals or retail stuff.

They’re open every day thru the winter halfway up the Hirafu-zaka (D2 on the village map, p112 in the Niseko Area Guide) Call 0136-23-0164 for more info…
