The sun was out, the beer was out and the bbq was on.

Tie in that it was the American Fourth of July weekend and you have the perfect day for the 2nd annual Hirafu 3 pitch Softball Classic.

Like last year, this event aims to bring  Hirafu locals together to get to know each other a bit better while enjoying the sunshine and some sport.3-pitch is a more casual version of baseball, with pitchers throwing underhand to their own batters, a softer ,larger ball, and co-ed teams made up on the day .

Softball is a good ambassador sport for Niseko because a) like soccer ,most countries have some grasp of the basic rules and b) unlike soccer, you don`t have to be very fit to do it and c) you can drink and eat while you play it.

The event was a great success, so much so that another game might be planned soon before the summer is out!
